Happy New Year from the ITA – 2019 Activities / Save the Dates

From all of us here at the International Titanium Association, we wish you a very Happy New Year and look forward to working with you through your continued membership with the ITA.

The following provides a recap of the current tasks ITA is undertaking. If you are interested in receiving more details about any particular topic, please contact us and I would be pleased to answer any questions you may have.

Media Audit

In 2019, the ITA will be conducting a third-party business publication audit including our print and digital editions. Conducting this media audit will provide membership and marketers with a report showing verified audience data and demographics across all of the ITA media channels. In preparation for the upcoming audit, we may be asking our members to confirm which distribution lists they would like to subscribe to along with their preference in receiving post or digital editions of trade publications and reports. We would greatly appreciate your attention to these requests to help us keep our mailing lists as clean and accurate as possible.

Membership Plaques

ITA encourages all Members in good standing to display the ITA Member Logo and conference banners on their email signature line, website, business name cards and letterhead. As membership renewals are received, ITA will supply each member with the image files for their use. Any member in good standing is welcome to order additional membership plaques for display by simply visiting the ITA Online Store to place your order.
ITA Education Committee Announces Partnership with Universities

The ITA is partnering with Universities in the USA and Canada to convert the existing Fundamentals of Titanium workshop into a robust college-level course which will offer continuing education for participants and will present the student with fully transferable credit hours. The ITA will supply the University Partners with our existing course materials and will also offer video demonstrations of non-proprietary processes the professors may use to teach the course. In preparation for the college level instruction, ITA has discontinued offering the in-person Fundamentals of Titanium workshops, but the Association will continue to offer private workshops if any individual organization would like to host an event at their facility.
It is Not Too Late to Promote your Organization through the ITA

Ashleigh Hayden is ready to provide you with details on sponsorship and advertising opportunities. If you are interested in learning more about what the ITA is offering this year, please click here to email Ashleigh with your request.
Kids in Titanium

The National Association of Manufacturers is warning that 2.4 million manufacturing jobs could go unfilled between now and 2028, according to a study from the association and the consultancy firm Deloitte. We recognize that seeds need to be planted at a young age in children to consider STEM careers. Kids in Titanium is offering an amazing opportunity for ITA Member organizations interested in engaging with their communities.

Last fall at the Las Vegas convention, ITA hosted 75 students (ages 11-14) from local metropolitan schools interested in learning more about titanium metal. ITA Members volunteered their time to host the tabletop displays, and the ITA worked with science teachers to create age-appropriate curriculum. Students and science teachers learned how titanium is made, what industries currently use the metal, the ITA led an anodizing station where students colored their own piece of scrap and ITA handed out information about academic scholarships available and the women in titanium programming.

We understand, particularly as parents ourselves, you have to plant the seeds in young people to get them thinking about their futures. If you want them to be inspired to be a chef, you have to teach them how to cook. If we want youth to consider joining the titanium industry in their adult careers, we have to introduce them to the industry and plant those seeds at a young age so when they are ready to think about college, those who decide to study STEM fields may think again about that day when the titanium industry introduced them to the wonders of titanium metal.

If your organization is interested in hosting a Kids in Titanium event at a local school in your community, please contact us. We would be pleased to bring all the materials with us and we can help organize volunteers, or your company may supply the volunteers to help staff the tables. It’s a great way to support STEM in your community, and many local newspapers and news channels report on these types of events so your company could be recognized.
